Meditation - Culmination of all yoga practices

Yoga is getting extremely popular all over the world. For the restless mind it gives the solace. For the sick, it is a boon. For the common man it is the fashion of the day to keep himself fit and beautiful. Some use it for developing memory, intelligence and creativity. With its multifold advantages, it is becoming a part of education. Some intellectuals use it to unfold deeper layers of consciousness to attain the highest goal of perfection i.e. Samadhi or the transcendental state. This state can be achieved by the consistent & prolonged practice of meditation which is the 7th step of Patanjali’s Ashtang (8 limbed Yoga). In fact meditation is the culmination of not only all Yoga practices but also all spiritual practices.

Bharatiya Temple, keeping up with the needs of time, has been conducting Yoga classes since the last decade of 20th century, i. e. early 90’s. There used be only one class on Sunday morning from 7.30 to 9.00 a.m. until around 2006. As we had more volunteers available after completing their certification as yoga instructors from a local organization Yoga Bharati, in collaboration with Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhan Samstha (VYASA) in the outskirts of Bengaluru, India, more classes were added, including one Saturday morning class and several weekday evening classes. These classes are all free for the Temple members and there are nominal charges for non members. In view of the Corona pandemic, all these classes are being conducted online either through zoom link or through face book. Bharatiya Temple encourages all to join some of these classes.
